Words. Words words Words: Words Words Words words Words is the most recent work by British artist Robert Good. It is a transposition of the essay Postproduction. Culture as Screenplay: How Art Reprograms the World by French writer and curator Nicolas Bourriaud.
Words. Words words Words: Words Words Words words Words replaces Bourriaud’s text word for word with the words ‘word’ and ‘and’. It is an act of destruction but also an act of liberation, freeing the mind from the constraints of language and opinion.
By keeping the book’s original format but emptying it of any possible meaning, Good also challenges both the role of the book as a repository of knowledge and the role of the author as purveyor of knowledge.
Robert Good is an artist based in Cambridge, England.

Tasked with putting on an exhibition artists Janice Wilkins & Caroline Jaine decided to do exactly not that. Intrigued by the number of visitors to gallery websites vs the number of visitors to galleries, and inspired by the work of 1960 conceptual artist Seth Seigelaub, the two artists collaborated in making Magazine:2012 – a catalogue for an exhibition which was to be the first ever not held at the new Serpentine Sackler Building in London 2012. Wilkins and Jaine showcase their politically engaged collection, which explores the defacement of icons (and Theresa May), distortion of the female form, the increase in power of the individual and shopping.

In July 2006 British Diplomat Caroline Jaine volunteered to work in Iraq. As a 36-year-old mother of three, who had rarely been parted from her family, she knew she would face unique challenges. This is the story of Caroline’s struggles as a female civilian in a war zone. It highlights an extraordinary time during the occupation – those 100 days in Basra Palace were perhaps some of the most volatile and uncertain as the coalition fumbled with a plan for a better Basra and the beginnings of an exit strategy – but Caroline’s story is also a touching, personal account of these time and a thoroughly entertaining read.

This work was drawn from five interviews with migrants living in the UK. It transcribes their words into a 184 page book, presenting the five journeys in the form of a puzzle. Jaine said, “I wanted the reader/viewer to be able to make choices, play with their assumptions, and reflect the choices made by the story-tellers”.
The front cover image is of Jaine’s grandfather writing home from India. Other images used have been donated by the subjects, or are Jaine’s own photographs and paintings.
