If you are joining Askance from Canada – welcome!

Although Askance has had a presence in Canada for many years, it was only in 2023 that we became set up to properly service Canadian readers and writers.

The new adventure has started with three new titles – two of poetry and one novel. In their own way all will be landmarks, not only for Askance but also for their authors.

Looking for a good read from our current outstanding list? Check on our titles already available in Canadian bookstores. There may be one near you or you can always order from them.

We have been extremely busy creating fresh titles ready for publication in early 2024. We recently posted about them here. But we still have time to look at new manuscripts to fill out our 2024/25 program. Take a look at our guidelines for writers. To be an Askance author you need a good story well told, plus the time and energy to give it a chance of reaching a wider audience. If you’ve had something published already – an article in a magazine, a short story on a website, a chapbook you made just for your friends and family – so much the better, but we’re open to submissions from authors of any experience level. We are not a ‘vanity publisher’, neither do we have a big budget for promotion. Let’s see what you’ve got!
